Episodes: 12

Genre(s): fantasy, comedy, parody

Subs used: AnimeKoi

DF’s status: watched and completed

Art & Animation:

  • I didn’t watch the BD releases, but it was still pretty damn good visually
  • Very fluid animation, FWIW
  • A good mixture of cutesy characters, static imagery, and atmosphere

Music & Sounds:

  • Good OP; simple in terms of visuals but it had a good tempo
  • ED wasn’t as good as the OP, and wasn’t as “hype” as the OP
  • Some pretty unique and fun background music throughout the series

Characters:

  • The male lead was a very fun character and he did a great job leading the show. One of the best protagonists in 2013, IMO
  • All the females were great,”I like their personalities” ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
  • Fun and diverse characters; I fucking love innocent maids, ohmygod

[Anime-Koi] Outbreak Company - 02 [h264-720p][E20CE45D].mkv_snapshot_07.29_[2015.08.20_14.17.32]

Story & Plot:

  • As far as the premise goes, It seems comparable to [ GATE, the Summer 2015 show ] minus anything remotely serious and keeping things on a more friendly, lighthearted, and cutesy scale
  • Quite a number of references to other anime and manga can be found, often used or placed in the most quirkiest of places

Untitled-1

  • The show is a total parody and doesn’t take itself very seriously– not that there’s anything wrong with that, as it makes for wonderful entertainment

Ending:

  • It got a bit wonky towards the end but the show managed to “check itself before it wrecked itself”
  • The “conflict resolution” was a bit sub par
  • All’s well that ends well

DF says…

Outbreak Company, making otaku culture mainstream and hype as fuck, circa 2013. A very fun and quirky show. The show did well in utilizing fantasy themes to in a lighthearted (and sometimes cliche?) way. I’m tired of seeing fantasy shows always be based around action and “serious business” tones so this was a nice breath of fresh air. Also, the reference game is on point, large in number, and it was pretty fun/worth a chuckle or two when you catch them.

  1. I remember watching the first episodes when it started airing and really liking it. I have no idea what happened, but I ended up stalling it and then dropping it. I really have to finish the series in the near future. ^^
