DF’s status: watched and completed

Art & Animation

  • The art and design is more on the cheerful, colorful, and “kiddy” side. It’s still decently aesthetic enough for you graphic whores out there
  • There are definitely a few moments every now and again where you can point out some… “budget cuts”
  • Background work = acceptable. Static imagery = good. Character art = fine. That said, sometimes you feel like you’ve seen these character designs somewhere before…

Music & Sounds

  • OP was your typical j-rock song you can find in a lot of anime shows
  • Cutie patootie ED, both visually and audibly
  • A lot of great background music played during action scenes

  • Rabbit girl is love, rabbit girl is life
  • All things considered, and even if it didn’t seem like it– the main protagonist was ol’ rabbit girl. She took up a lot of the on-screen time and story. She was a pretty fun character so it was NBD to me anyway
  • Characters outside the main crew were pretty much disposable fodder; unmemorable
  • Also, this fucking guy– this fucking guy man. #TooImbaPleaseNerf

Story & Plot

  • I applaud the show for being so straightforward with the fluffy magical stuff at least
  • The show is pretty lighthearted despite having it’s “shit just got real” moments. The writers struck a real nice balance here
  • “Well, that escalated quickly”. Seeing how the main line was only 10 episodes long, you already have a feeling there might be some rushed parts and storylines– and this becomes evident later on

  • The ending episodes took a straight nosedive into fight sequences, (yawns). It pretty much lost my attention through a good chunk of it
  • It pretty much boiled down to (enemy attacks) → (casualties were suffered) → (heroes retaliate) → (enemies use special attacks) → (temporary moment of “villains might prevail”) → (heroes use special attacks) → (fancy stuff here and there) → (goodness prevails!)
  • I guess I am nitpicking a bit. I can’t expect the show to easy free-flow all the way to the end, lol

DF says:

Usually I don’t get down with these type of shows but I can appreciate the lighthearted nature of it. A good sense of action that knows how to scale properly and hold itself back to prevent synthetic seriousness. The show’s ability to inject silly/stupid comedy when needed is also welcomed.
